Looking for a a place to adopt a pet in Kansas City? Wayside Waif is the place to go. Wayside Waifs made every step of the way wonderful and stress free so that Winston and I could be united. Winston has brought such joy into my life, he is so happy when I come home after leaving for work … he even waits outside the bathroom door when I shower! It definitely is clear to se he needed me as much as I did him. When I first saw him he was in his cage with a cone on; he had just been neutered, and to be honest I overlooked him because I thought there must be something wrong with him. As I walked around looking for a suitable match, I felt someone’s eyes following me, and this beautiful brown eyed German Pointer was staring at me as if I were a pheasant myself. Could it be? I thought, could it be I was not the one doing the hunting this instance, rather being carefully drawn in by the most perfect companion?
Wayside Waifs is a facility committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. They are the largest pet adoption center in Kansas City, placing over 5,400 animals each year in loving homes. Wayside is a no kill shelter, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Wayside Waifs is proud to be a part of Kansas City’s no-kill community! Wayside has some of the friendliest staff around, and a state-of-the-art facility that allows them to truly care for the animals they take in and their future owners.
This upcoming Friday, the 18th of October, they are having an Adoption festival, where every adoption is only $25.00. They want all of these animals to be happy, so if price has been the reason why you have not moved forward with an adoption, Friday at 9:00 am. is your moment to shine. They are practically giving away puppies and cats to suitable homes and families!
“Hello there! My name is Evergreen and I am a handsome chap of almost 2 years old. I was found wandering the streets when Animal Control brought me to Wayside Waifs. I was very scared when I first arrived and pretty shy. I wasn’t around many people before I came here so it was quite overwhelming for me. Lucky for me the amazing staff and volunteers have helped me grow so much! They spent a lot of time introducing me to new people and new situations and helping me to feel safe. They’ve helped me overcome a lot of my fears and I feel like a new boy already. Even though I have come a long way I still think I would be happiest in a calmer environment, preferably with older children. I will need to have my new owners continue to work on boosting my confidence once we go home together! Positive Reinforcement training will help me to become more secure and learn what’s expected of me in the home. This includes lots of praise and treats when I am doing something good. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to bond and get to know each other! I just need for someone to be patient and gentle with me so that I can see how wonderful this world really can be! A staff member took me for a walk today and I had so much fun! We stopped for a while to spend time together and I loved when she pet me and talked to me. A guy could definitely get used to this! I may have had a rough start in life but I don’t let that keep me down! Even though all the staff and volunteers have been so kind and amazing I am ready to go to my new home. I know the perfect family is out there for me and I can’t wait to meet them! I may start out a little slow but I know I wiggle my way into your heart and be loyal and loving companion! I have been waiting my whole life to shower someone with love and show them the goofy boy I can be. Come on out to Wayside and ask to meet me! Tail Wags, Evergreen.”
