Here at Blogger Local we are always in pursuit of the best that Kansas City has to offer. That’s why it made sense for us to check in with Stuff a neighbor of the Reading Reptile children’s book store in Brookside. The Simmons sisters, Casey and Sloane, have taken their lifetime’s worth of the pursuit of the best there is to offer and they synthesized it into a store front that has become a staple of the quaint shopping district just East of Ward Parkway. At Stuff visitors and regulars alike can peruse through a labyrinth of colorful items at the “gift and fine art store dedicated to local artistry”. The store has been focused on sharing their support for local artisans for over 15 years. The Simmons sisters pride themselves on selecting items that are made in small quantities and are each individually crafted.

Blogger Local spoke with Sloane Simmons, 1 half of the brains behind the Stuff store and she told us that one of the reasons she choose to use the State Line Bag Co. was because of their handmade quality and individual appearance. The Stuff store uses the bags to gift wrap their customer’s purchases as well as for gift bags they donate to charity. She liked the fact that not every muslin drawstring bag was the same because it showed that their was a handmade attention to detail. Sloane explained to us that the Stuff store remained true to it’s ethos by choosing the State Line Bag Co., a wholesale muslin bag company based out of the neighboring city of Leawood, KS. Stuff adds their own touch to the bags once they get them in house by hand stamping their logo onto each bag. It’s just one more way Casey and Sloane can put their own unique touch on everything they do.
The Simmons sisters have built a business on a set of values that supports creativity and uniqueness as the pillars of living in a thriving environment. Something the two sisters also share a passion for, is supporting the Susan Henke Miller Breast Cancer Research Fund and the AIDS Walk Kansas City.
