Kansas City, in recent years has experienced a start-up revolution, with entrepreneurial businesses of every type taking advantage of the economic revitalization efforts put in place by various philanthropic and government agencies. Our downtown has quickly become a sought after tourist destination in the region and players from the international business scene, like Google and Ikea are now taking root in our city. The presence of Google’s gigabit speed internet has spurred an entire area of growth in the startup business community. Since the world’s most iconic search engine provider only offers residential gigabit Internet, the startup business community in Kansas City has set up shop in residences all over the city. There is even a Startup Village straddling State Line Road just a few blocks from Google’s local HQ. For local business the Phoenix Group, building a business of building businesses is what their incubator style startup company is focused on.
According to Chris Lucas whom this Kansas City blog spoke with, the Phoenix Group is in it’s early phases on inception and currently working on financing their operations. The Phoenix Group are already proprietors of local business C.Jacks restaurant in Praire Village. We contacted Chris Lucas to find out about how the Phoenix Group uses the virtual office services of the Leawood Office Business Center.

Chris explained that the Phoenix Group is currently a home based business venture that utilizes the physical address of the Leawood Office Business Center to handle it’s shipping and receiving needs. Chris said that as the business grows they will undoubtedly be using the other virtual office services the LOBC offers to its clientele. Eventually as they ramp up their operations they will utilize the on demand office spaces, conference rooms and friendly receptionists. Chris mentioned his only improvement would be that the facility was open on the weekends so he could access the Phoenix Group’s mail.
